  • American business magazine Forbes has released its annual rankings of the World’s Billionaires, and Philippines’ Henry Sy ranks 52nd on their list.

    The Chinese-Filipino businessman, who is the chairman emeritus of SM Investments Corp., tops all other Filipino billionaires on the list with his $20 billion net worth this year. Sy has also topped the Forbes Philippines Rich list for 10 consecutive years. Apart from the SM shopping malls, he also has businesses related to retail, financial services, real estate, and hotels, among others.

    The second richest Filipino to be on the list is John Gokongwei Jr. of JG Summit, which includes air transportation services, food, and telecommunications in his line of businesses. Gokongwei ranks #305 with a $5.8 billion net worth this 2018.

    Other Filipinos on the list include Enrique Razon Jr., Lucio Tan, Tony Tan Caktiong, George Ty, Manuel Villar, Andrew Tan, Ramon Ang, Robert Coyuito Jr., Eduardo Cojuangco, and Roberto Ongpin. This year, Forbes has recorded 2,208 billionaires all over the world.
