  • Philippine cookbooks were awarded at the 22nd Gourmand World Cookbook Awards held in Yantai, China.

    A total of six Philippine culinary books were recognized at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, a yearly Awards and Trade Fairs founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. This event honors the best food and wine books on print, digital and broadcast from over 205 countries worldwide.

    This year, four culinary books from the Philippines were tagged as “3rd Best in the World,” such as Food Holidays by Clang Garcia, a campaign that aims to highlight Philippine Culinary Heritage Tourism. This book was recognized in the Culinary Travel category.

    Philippine Food, Cooking, & Dining Dictionary by Edgie Polistico also won third “Best in the World,” in Food Writing category, a book that contains more than 8,000 food-related terms in Filipino cuisine.

    For the Health and Nutrition for the Public category, Organic Divine Gorgeous Recipes by Eleanor Rivera was also recognized as one of the best, a book for “preparing invigorating feasts.” For the Professional Category, Proof by the Philippine Society of Baking was also awarded for its handy informative guide to baking.

    Other books recognized were Coconut Champion by Franklin Baker, a detailed account of the Frankin Baker group’s legacy in the coconut industry, and Philippine Cookery by popular Filipino TV chef Tatung Sarthou.
