  • The Otemon Square is a good place to visit in Aomori to learn useful information about Aomori Prefecture, particularly Hirosaki City’s tourist spots. It houses various establishments like the Parade Float Exhibition Hall and the Former City Library.

Housed in the same establishment as the Sightseeing Information Center, this is where the towering floats used during the Neputa Festival are kept preserved. It’s neatly displayed in the museum, where historical figures in tableau depict significant stories that happened in the past.

Aside from the float pavilion, the Sightseeing Information Center also provides free brochures and booklets for tourists that contain valuable information in getting around the town.

    Former Hirosaki City Library

This architectural marvel built in 1907 was used as the city’s library in 1931. This classic structure has a renaissance style reflecting the city’s striking historical aesthetic. For architecture aficionados, this Western-style establishment is a must-see sight when in Hirosaki.

How to go to Otemon Square

Take the 100-yen Dotemachi Loop Bus and drop off at Shiyakusho Mae in front of the city hall
