Casa Gorordo Museum stands as one of Cebu City’s treasured heritage attractions, offering a rich look into the lifestyle and culture of Cebuanos during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Located in Parian, one of the city’s oldest districts, the museum occupies a beautifully preserved ancestral home that reflects the layered influences that shaped Cebu’s identity, from native design and Spanish colonial architecture to Chinese craftsmanship and trade connections.

The house was built in the 1850s and later became the residence of the Gorordo family, who lived there for several generations. Among its most notable former residents was Juan Gorordo, remembered as the first Filipino bishop of Cebu. Over time, the home witnessed major turning points in the country’s history, including the Philippine revolutionary period and the Second World War, making it not only a family residence but also a silent witness to Cebu’s changing social and historical landscape.

In 1979, the property was acquired by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and was later restored and opened as a museum in 1983. Its historical value was further recognized in 1991 when it was declared a National Historical Landmark. Today, Casa Gorordo Museum continues to preserve the memory of old Cebu through its house structure, curated displays, and educational programs.
