  • Museo del Galeón, a new immersive museum dedicated to maritime heritage, opened on May 1 at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay.

    The non-profit educational institution explores the history of the galleon trade through interactive exhibits, large-scale installations, and historical displays, offering visitors a deeper look into one of the most significant chapters in Philippine and global maritime history.

    At the heart of the museum is the Galeón Espíritu Santo, brought to life through immersive installations, including a nighttime experience where the ship comes alive beneath a sky of stars.

    Among the exhibitions visitors can explore is Returning to Manila: The Galleon Trade in Maps, which tells the story of one of the most fascinating episodes in history.

    Admission rates are Php 675 for adults, Php 375 for children above 2 feet, while children under 2 feet may enter free. Rates are also available at Php 375 for private school students and Php 275 for public school students and teachers, with discounted rates for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

    The exhibition was mounted through collaboration with Instituto de Historia y Cultura Naval, Museo Naval, Archivo Histórico de la Armada Juan Sebastián Elcano, and Instituto Cervantes, together with the Embassy of Spain in Manila.

    Designed to benefit present and future generations, Museo del Galeón offers a new cultural destination in Pasay where visitors can engage with maritime history through immersive exhibits and educational experiences.
