The Riviera Golf Club in Cavite: Scenic Challenges Across 72 Holes

Tucked in the lush mountain landscapes near Tagaytay, The Riviera Golf Club offers one of the most breathtaking and technically demanding golfing experiences in the Philippines.

Featuring four 18-hole courses for a total of 72 holes, including the acclaimed Langer and Couples layouts, this members-only club is a destination for serious golfers seeking both variety and challenge.

Both courses are defined by dramatic terrain, with nearly every hole incorporating valleys and cliffs that add layers of difficulty. A standout is the Langer course’s iconic 17th hole, a short but unforgettable par 3.

Though listed at 140 yards, the tee shot plays roughly 50 meters downhill, making 100 yards often sufficient. However, the swirling wind conditions make club selection tricky and demand careful judgment. Regardless of the pin placement, the safest strategy is to aim for the center of the green to avoid trouble.

On the Couples course, Hole 11 is its signature par 5—a mentally intense test from start to finish. The tee shot plays downhill over a ravine; while caddies may advise a 200-yard shot from the blue tee, the downhill slope often allows 180 yards to carry the hazard. Still, that’s just the beginning.

The second shot demands accuracy, with a cliff on the left and a slope on the right. The third approach shot is equally punishing, flanked by a cliff and a bunker, leaving no room for error. It’s a hole that punishes misjudgment at every stage.

Despite its demanding layout, The Riviera Golf Club rewards players with spectacular views—especially from Langer’s 18th hole, where the fairway frames a stunning sightline back toward the clubhouse.

The Riviera Golf Club is a members-only facility, with non-members welcome when accompanied by a member. Members may bring up to four guests, and green fees are Php 4,200 on weekdays and Php 5,400 on weekends.

After the round, guests can relax with the clubhouse’s signature Shabu-Shabu (from Php 1,500), the perfect way to end a memorable day on the fairways.
