  • Among the many heritage homes in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, there is one that still stands out for retaining its luster since the 1800s. This is Villa Angela Heritage House located along Quirino Boulevard and Calle Ventura de los Reyes in Vigan

Villa Angela Heritage House really embodies that Hispanic vibe from the foot of the stairs up to its brick walls and capiz windows.

Passing through the gate, you will see Villa Angela’s simple yet nostalgic atmosphere as you walk through the driveway and reach the staircase towards the heritage home.

Reaching the end of the stairs, you will be greeted by Villa Angela’s dining area where guests usually dine together with other guests.

Guests may get to have an informal chat with their dining area built for sharing experiences and moments together.

Beyond this is the house’s main living room where all the mementos of the prominent Versoza family can be seen since the house’s restoration in the 1980s. The heritage house’s history, however, dates back in 1859 when it was built by then Gobernadorcillo (Municipal Governor) Agapito B. Florendo.

Mementos of the Versoza family can still be seen inside Villa Angela’s sitting room.

This heritage house is one of Vigan’s most popular accommodations not only for its well-maintained facilities and antique collections but because it has also been used as the set of Rizal sa Dapitan (1997) (Rizal in Dapitan) starring Albert Martinez

It was also Tom Cruise’s very own choice for accommodation when they were filming Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July (1989), thus staying at the Cuarto del Señor, now priced at Php 2,900/night.

Tom Cruise graces one wall at Villa Angela in commemoration of his stay at Cuarto del Senor.

The room is clothed in both simplicity and elegance, complete as it is with a king-sized four poster bed, a television, and a huge antique dresser.
