  • The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, in partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, will present a special classical music concert commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Philippines-Japan Friendship this June.

    “A 70 Year Opus: Celebrating Philippines-Japan Friendship in Concert” will be held on June 24, 2026, Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m. at The Theater at Solaire in Parañaque City. The concert will bring the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra from Tokyo to Manila for the first time, marking a meaningful cultural milestone between the Philippines and Japan.

    The performance will be led by conductor Tetsuji Honna, music director and chief conductor of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, and will feature violinist Mayuko Kamio, winner of the 2007 Tchaikovsky International Competition. Together with the New Japan Philharmonic, they will present an evening of classical music that celebrates friendship, collaboration, and the enduring power of the arts.

    The program will include the National Anthem of the Republic of the Philippines and Japan, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92.

    More than a concert, A 70 Year Opus serves as a tribute to the enduring friendship, collaboration, and cultural exchange between the Philippines and Japan. Through music, the event highlights the power of the arts to connect people across borders and generations.

    Presented with the support of partners including Toyota, GT Capital Holdings Incorporated, The Tokyo Club, and Solaire Resort Entertainment City, A 70 Year Opus invites music lovers and supporters of Philippines-Japan friendship to take part in this unforgettable celebration.
