  • Join the worldwide effort in saving mother earth! The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) asks for your support once again! On March 19, join WWF Philippines ambassadors Marc Nelson, Rovilson Fernandez and Iza Calzado, plus Earth Hour steward Mikee Cojuanco–Jaworski, at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, and switch off your lights to shine a light on your action for climate change.

Earth Hour is a simple action of turning off lights for 60 minutes to send a powerful message: the need for urgent action regarding climate change. For the past decade, it has grown from just a switch off event in Sydney to the world’s largest environmental campaign, involving 7,000 cities in 172 countries.

Last 2011, WWF Sweden started the EHCC or the Earth Hour City Challenge. This aims to recognize cities around the world that are doing steps in making sustainable communities that are greener, cleaner and more sustainable. Last year, the Philippines took on the challenge and joined EHCC 2016. This is the first time that the Philippines will be participating in the event. Seven cities have agreed to join the challenge, namely Makati City; Quezon City; Paranaque City; Santa Rosa, Laguna; Naga, Camarines Sur; San Carlos in Negros; and Cagayan De Oro of Misamis Oriental.
