  • The on-going battle with COVID-19 is continually stirring the world. In times like this, we turn to words and arts to find hope, encouragement, and even comic relief to ease the worries brought about by the pandemic. Although apart, stories and images unite every single one of us.

That is why the National Museum of the Philippines, in participation with Museum Week’s online global campaign called #MusuemWeek2020, invites the public to take part in their event called My Museum Story, which will happen on May 1 to 17.

My Museum Story will run for seven days, with seven themes and seven hashtags. The chosen works will be featured in all of the National Museum’s social media platforms.

The global theme for this year is “Togetherness.” The word “together,” holds a collective power emphasizing the “universal message of being united highlighting the power of culture, heritage and the institutions that support them and their unique ability to bring people together,” despite being confined at home due to social distancing measures.

If you want to share your story, National Museum provided 3 themes you can choose from:

    • Culture in Quarantine – re-create cultural works with objects and people from your homes
    • Museum Moments- recall and share your National Museum visit memories
    • Dreams – share your dream for a better world in the field of arts and culture

To participate, choose a theme that inspires you and create content that includes your write up and your image or photo. The write up must be in English and contain a maximum of 300 words. Both contents should be submitted separately.

Make sure that the content must be original and should promote positivity and inspiration in Culture, Heritage, and Museums. However, minor photo editing and enhancement are allowed.

You may send in your entries to services.nationalmuseumph@gmail.com until April 25, Saturday. Don’t forget to include the following hashtags in your entries: #NationalMuseumPh#MuseumWeek2020#MyMuseumStory.

Winning entries for each theme will be the official entry of the NMP on its participation to Museum Week 2020, which will take place on May 11 to 17. Winners will be acknowledged as tagged in the posting of entries in the NMP official social media accounts during the Museum Week celebration.

Museum Week is a cultural festival held online to unify the audiences worldwide through art and culture.
