  • A Symphony in Colors: Solo Exhibition of Dietrich Schoenfelder
  • This coming Thursday is a big day for art fans as German-born artist and writer, Dietrich Schoenfelder, will be having a solo exhibition at ArtistSpace, Ayala Museum starting May 31 to June 13, 2018. With a deep appreciation for nature and the people whose income and life depend on it, Schoenfelder’s exhibit is titled, A Symphony of Colors.

Born in 1944 in Dresden, Germany, shortly before the end of WW II, Schoenfelder has always been interested in arts and has dreamed to be either a musician, a painter, or a writer. He joined the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more than forty years, most of these years are time spent in foreign countries. During this time, he followed his original aspirations in painting and writing. Wherever he was stationed and had the time, he painted either landscape, motivated by nature, or people and their daily work. Several successful exhibitions encouraged him to continue with his artistic line even after retirement.

Soon, he found the Philippines to be his favorite place and has stayed to live in the country surrounded by water and forests. “This beautiful environment and nice people as well give me the right inspiration I need for my work,” Schoenfelder writes on his website.

In A Symphony of Colors, colorful surroundings create an attractively balanced perspective and contribute a distinct character in his works. He views the sun as the mother of all life and the moon as its nightly replacement – which is evident in most of his paintings. The exhibit will be on view at the ArtistSpace from 1 to 13 June 2018 with an Artist Reception on May 31, 2018, at 6:00 PM. ArtistSpace is located at the Ayala Museum Annex, Ground Level, Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street, Makati City. It is open from Mondays to Sundays, 10 am to 7 pm. Admission is free.
