  • Listicle: Pre-Christmas events you shouldn’t miss
  • We will be updating this page with events leading up to Christmas Eve as information is received.

Christmas is the best time to go out with friends and family, but it’s not always that easy planning for things you want to do, especially when it comes to celebrating the last few days before Christmas.

If you’ve run out of ideas, here’s a list of events for you to go to with friends and family if you don’t have plans for Christmas:

Lantern Parade at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman

A long-standing tradition of the country’s state university (it started in 1922), the Lantern Parade is an event that should definitely be added to your Christmas calendar. It’s usually held a week before Christmas, right as the students are finishing up their Final exams.

It’s an event filled with “colorful floats, twinkling lanterns, and spectacular fireworks”, all done by the students, faculty, and staff of UP. This year’s Lantern Parade will happen on December 16 at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Diliman, Quezon City.

Paskuhan at University of Santo Tomas (UST)

If UP has the Lantern Parade, UST has Paskuhan. What started as a small gathering of its students and faculty in 1991 has ballooned to become the most anticipated event for any Tomasino. Similar to UP, UST’s Paskuhan starts as the Final exams end for its students.

Highlights for Paskuhan 2016 include the Paskuhan Fair, the annual concert, and the fireworks display, all happening on December 16 at the UST Campus in España Blvd., Manila.
