AKB48 announces partnership with ABS-CBN
ABS-CBN will soon be airing a talent show where the search for members of MNL48, the upcoming “sister group” of Japanese all-girl pop group AKB48.

Last August 2017, HalloHallo Entertainment Inc., in a press release said that they will be partnering with ABS-CBN, the country’s biggest media outlet, to showcase a new flavor of entertainment to the Filipino audience.
AKB48 is a Japanese all girl-pop group that was formed in 2005, and have since become one of the most successful idol groups in Japan with albums and singles sales numbering tens of millions.

The show will be patterned on the original AKB48 concept, which likely means that public votes will determine the members. Although other details such as the show’s title, mechanics, and a release date are not yet announced, it is believed that the auditions already happened back in December 2016.
MNL48 would be one of the newest AKB48 sister groups outside of Japan in addition to already existing units in Jakarta, Indonesia, and in Shanghai, China.
