Cine Corregidor and Pacific War Memorial
With close proximity to each other, both the Cine Corregidor and the Pacific War Memorial tell a lot about the history and the events that had happened in the island.
Some parts of the structure have already broken down and is now in ruins, but despite this, Cine Corregidor still has the hint of the grandness and the elegance it used to boast when it was still in use. According to the tour guides in the area, the cinema used to be the most prestigious one in the country, even better than the ones which were already screening in business along the Avenida area in Manila. In fact, films are screened and shown in Cine Corregidor a week before it’s even shown in the city.
The Pacific War Memorial, on the other hand, is located a few meters away from the Cinema and the Eternal Flame of Freedom. It is famous for the white dome with a hole in the center where the rays of the sun directly passes through at 12 noon of a certain day. During this time, war veterans come to visit the place to commemorate the lives lost and the war that had brought back the freedom of the country.
