Award-winning literary artists Maria L.M. Fres-Felix, Raniela Barbaza, Ramon Guillermo, Priscilla Macansantos, and Soledad Reyes will head the first literary session with a discussion on National Literature.
In the afternoon, University of the Philippines Professor Emeritus Dr. Gemino Abad is expected to deliver his keynote address, which will be followed by the second literary session–Writing the Nation in Poetry–to be led by more notable writers Joselito delos Reyes, Ramil Gulle, Marne Kilates, Junley Lazaga, and Raymundo Pandan, Jr.
Eros Atalia, Isidoro Cruz, Noelle Q. de Jesus, Charmaine Lasar, and Jose Rey Munsayac will administer the third literary session, which focuses on Writing the Nation in Fiction.
The last day of the national congress will be shorter than the first, but will still feature impressive local literary artists nonetheless as it will open with Lito Casaje, Charlson Ong, Manix Abrera, Pamela Castrillo, Jerry Gracio, Guelan Luarca, and Nicolas Pichay discussing Writing the Nation in Drama, Film, and the Multi-Arts.
Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy (PCID) President Hon. Amina Rasul-Bernardo will also be a part of the second-day events as she holds The Jose Rizal Lecture.
The Philippine PEN has been organizing and sponsoring literary readings, workshops, seminars, and conferences in the Philippines since it was first founded in 1958. Plus, admissions to the 61st Philippine PEN National Congress is FREE!
