  • A child’s eyes see things differently. Through their eyes, the stars may hold magical creatures with wings like fairies. The moon may speak like a humongous wizard with words that soothe like honey. The sun may have rays sticking out like that of an octopus’ tentacles. And a snake may eat an elephant whole and get stuck in the reptile’s tummy.

For children, all these are possible—and more! Freedom is a child’s friend; whereas adults may forget to look up and witness all these incredible things through the lens of a child altogether.

Gratefully, Write Things sees the best in every child and encourages them to spread their wings and fly through the Young Writers’ Hangout, from July to December, from 1:30 to 3 pm, at Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street!

Write Things motivates children and teens 8-14 years old to nourish their talent in writing by providing writing sessions on different forms of writing. Teens aged 15 to 17 years old may also register in the Writers’ Hangout, provided they are still in high school. May it be poetry, fiction, essays, and other genres of writing, accomplished mentors guide and give constructive feedback to their young writers for a more hands-on experience.

According to Teacher Neni Sta. Romana Cruz, program designer for the Write Things as well as a book author and a writer for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the writing sessions also promise one thing: that no two sessions are the same. The following are the class schedules every Saturdays, from August to December:

    August

    • August 4 – Creative Writing with Teacher Roel
    • August 18 – Creative Writing with Teacher Neni

    September

    • September 1 – Creative Writing with Teacher Roel
    • September 15 – Creative Writing with Teacher Neni

    October

    • November 24 – Creative Writing with Teacher Roel

    December

    • December 1 – Creative Writing with Teacher Neni

With a registration fee of Php 875 per session, writing materials are already provided. However, your child is more than welcome to bring a laptop or tablet or other writing materials of their own choosing.

What made the writing sessions even more interesting is that they will be publishing an anthology containing the most creative masterpieces of these children, and will be organizing a book launch on the second Saturday of December!
