Salcedo Auctions launches Space, Gavel&Block’s 2nd Sale
How do you follow up an auction as classy as Salcedo Auction’s The Well Appointed Life? By going contemporary with space, the second sale under their subsidiary Gavel&Block.
CESAR LEGASPI (1917–1994)
Curated for a contemporary audience, the close to 300 objects in space which will be going under the Gavel&Block include Philippine and international works of art such as paintings, drawings, fine prints, and sculpture, as well as furniture, fashion, and décor.

NARRA MAGIC TABLES
In line with Gavel&Block’s mission to grow the art and collectibles market to an increasingly affluent audience, they have invited SoFA Design Institute, one of the country’s leading providers of art and design education, as the sale’s preview partner. Faculty members from the school’s Interior Design Program will each curate a space within the saleroom, showcasing unique perspectives and aesthetic sensibilities through their respective vignettes.
FERNANDO ZÓBEL (1924–1984)
Touching on various approaches to design, contemporary paintings and sculpture by artists such as Andres Barrioquinto, Jigger Cruz, Marcel Antonio, Luis Lorenzana, and Jason Montinola will be presented alongside fine art prints and works on paper by Philippine masters including BenCab, Cesar Legaspi, Arturo Luz, H.R. Ocampo, Mauro Malang Santos, Fernando Zóbel and Anita Magsaysay-Ho, and international luminaries such as Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso.

Clothing and accessories by Hermès, Chanel, Mary Katrantzou, and Balenciaga introduce elements of style and self-expression – defining personal space – while a curated selection of antique and modern furniture including console and dining tables, chairs and day beds in fine hardwoods and vintage decór punctuate the sale.
ANITA MAGSAYSAY-HO (1914–2012)
A week-long preview of space is being held at the Salcedo Auctions main saleroom until Friday, 20 October, from 10 am – 6 pm. The auction for space takes place on Saturday, 21 October, 2 pm at the Salcedo Auctions main saleroom, Three Salcedo Place, 121 Tordesillas Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City.
