HOCUS Lecture Series 5
There comes a time in the lives of men and nations when ruling ideas that no longer give life must be laid to rest for the sake of the living. However, there are better ways to mark a turning point with powerful art like the presence of the Hocus exhibit.
“Hocus” is an acronym, based on two combined names of artists featured in the exhibition at the Gallery XXI of the National Museum of Fine Arts- Saul Hofileña and Guy Custodio. Saul Hofileña is a lawyer and historian by profession, while Guy Custodio—a conservator of the church’ treasures, collaborated with the said project during a period of almost four years with a purpose of melding in oil, wood, and woven cloth the Philippine nation’s history.
Happening this coming September 2, 2017, from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Osmeña Function Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts, be fascinated with our church history, and the Political history during the Spanish period through various lecture series and 32 contemporary paintings of the two known painters!
