This rainy season calls for a heavy downpour of books focusing on the young ones. On July 21, Umuulan ng Libro: Philippine Children’s Book Summit, a literary conference for authors, illustrators, publishers, teachers, librarians, and students is going to be held at The Elements at Centris. This is spearheaded by The National Book Development Board (NBDB) with the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) aiming to further strengthen the children’s literature.

Some of the topics to be covered at the event are children’s literature at school, adult readership for children’s books, Asian children’s book industry, and the local book and comic industry. Aside from local authors and illustrators who will tackle different issues and trends, one of the speakers for the event is a 2013 Macmillan prize winner and a 2015 Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival Illustrator’s Award winner, Wen Dee Tan.

For more information about the event, interested participants may contact Kata Garcia at 352-6765 loc. 204 or through email at pbby@adarna.com.ph.
