    On September 24, 2016, Rappler, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme – UNDP, will once again host the annual Social Good Summit at the The Social Good Summit is an annual global event organized around the United Nations General Assembly. It is sustained globally by +SocialGood, a community which shares world-changing ideas to spark action in our social media era. Rappler’s Maria Ressa is one of its 5 global advisors.

    On its fifth year, the Philippines Social Good Summit will teach the innovation process through a solution-simulation forum where participants learn, connect, and act.

    #HackSociety, an ideathon that harnesses the new democratic space in order to crowdsource “hacks” that aim to address these core issues:

    • Education and Jobs

    • Food, Agriculture & Poverty Alleviation

    • Accountability & Governance

    • Environment and Disasters

    • Peace & development

    #HackSociety is an experiment where decision-makers will meet citizens, and where both will work together to solve common problems and challenges. It will connect the disruptors with those in the peripheries: teachers, farmers, and workers groups with digitally-savvy millennials and students, as well as innovators in the academe and industries.
