  • “Are you original?” This is the question Cinema One seems to pose, as if a challenge to all independent filmmakers, before battling head to head in this year’s Cinema One Originals Festival 2018!

Thankfully, 9 filmmakers are all ready to take on the challenge, proving their penchant for the authentic as their full-length films were chosen last March 2, and are therefore ready for everyone to witness this October 12 to 21 in celebration of the festival’s 14th anniversary.

To be viewed on selected cinemas, the festival will include a mix of genres that will cater to children and adults with the festival’s genre of animation and musical (Paglisan by Carl Papa), drama (Palibhasa Babae by Iris Charmaine Lee), horror (Hospicio by Bobby Bonifacio), crime (A Short History of a Few Bad Things by Keith Deligero), and a fantasy comedy (Asuang by Rayn Brizuela). The event, according to Festival Director Ronald Arguelles, will also be featuring “a world of gymnasts” with Double Twisting Double Jack by Joseph Abello, and would also welcome viewers to put the lens of the LGBT community through Mamu; And a Mother Too by Rod Singh and Fisting (Never Tear Us Apart) by Whammy Alcazaren.

Recently, Cinema Bravo PH, another host to the festival, also shared the trailer of one of the festival’s full-length films—the romantic comedy, Bagyong Bheverlyn by Charliebebs Gohetia starring Rufa Mae Quinto.
