Arte Suave Manila Puts the Spotlight on PH Jiu-Jitsu Community This October
Unroll your mats and get ready for two days filled with exciting jiu-jitsu as Arte Sauve Manila comes back on its fifth year this October 19 to 20, 2019.
Jiu-jitsu fighters, coaches, and martial arts enthusiasts from all over the country will come together for the competition and expo to be held at Commencenter, Alabang.
For this year’s event, Faiza Roxa Grand Prix will be added to the line-up of activities for the first day. This means that instead of the regular single-elimination format, the six light to middleweight Purple Belt jiu-jiteiros invited to compete must work their way up from the preliminaries (round-robin) to the eliminations (quarters and semis) to secure a spot in the finals.
“Faiza Roxa Grand Prix is Arte Suave Manila’s way to let the athletes battle-test their technique along with their physical and mental condition,” said Franco Rulloda, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and president of Triumvirate Fighting, the producer of the event.
Another addition to this year’s Arte Suave is the juvenile matches. Happening on the second day, the mixed-gender gi competitions will be four age divisions of next generation jiu-jiteiros: 6 to 8, 9 to 11, 12 to 14, and 15 to 17.
The highly-popular Arte Suave Superfights, the 10-minute submissions-only exhibition matches, will be retained for no-gi and will also happen on the second day of the event.
In 2017, a lot of the White Belts/Beginners who joined Arte Suave Manila were competing for the first time! Were you…
With regards to the expo, expect jiu-jitsu and MMA apparel and gear brands to headline with a mix of mainstays and new players. Arte Suave Manila will also open the exhibit to lifestyle brands that want to bring their products or services to the martial arts demographic.
A number of fighters who joined Arte Suave Manila’s previous competitions and super fights have been dominating the international jiu-jitsu circuit, with some even making the cut to qualify for the Philippine National Jiu-Jitsu Team.
“The only way for Filipino jiu-jiteiros to continue to rise on the world stage is by helping one another right at home,” Rulloda shared. “We are all united by the gentle art.”
Registration to Arte Suave Manila 2019 is currently open until October 6. Gi is open to adult male and female White and Blue Belt competitors, while No Gi is open to adult male and female Beginner and Advanced grapplers.
The registration fee of Php 1,700 per individual competitor already covers both gi and no-gi events.
As with previous years, the Group 4+1 Promo (only Php 6,800 for 5 competitors from a single team) will also be offered. For the complete registration details and event guidelines, visit Arte Suave’s Facebook page.
