  • With the theme New Beginnings for Peace, New Challenges for Development, the Philippine Intercultural Youth Convention (PIYC) is happening on September 21 to 22, 2019 at Tanghalang Bautista, Quezon City University.

With the recent development towards unity through the founding of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), peace starts anew not only in the region but also throughout the country. Alongside peacebuilding, the country has been pining for sustainable development and it is now time for the youth to take center.

PIYC 2019 aims to provide a platform for discussions on national issues that shed light on the role of the youth in peace and development, as well as for the exchange of Philippine cultures.

Government leaders, non-government leaders, and international partners will spearhead forums on youth in peace, vulnerabilities in conflict, peace amidst diversity, and the essence of peacebuilding in the achievement of quality education, poverty alleviation, access to health care, and sustainable livelihood.

PIYC unites youth leaders across the regions of the Philippines as well as tribes and indigenous people’s groups. It also brings the country’s rich culture in one venue through various segments, such as the Cultural Festival, a cultural exhibition and networking night, among others.

Further, PIYC targets to involve the youth with government and non-government actors, which will be facilitated with a flow of plenary and breakout sessions.

PIYC hopes to integrate the Filipino youth in building a strong foundation for sustainable development and the stability of peace. Interested participants may register here for only Php 2,500.

The event is presented by Sigaw ng Kabataan Coalition, an independent non-partisan national alliance of young leaders and youth organizations in the Philippines, in partnership with the Rotary Satellite Club of Fort BGC Titans of Rotary International District 3830, and supported by the Pilipinas Rotaract Multi-District Information Organization and other partner agencies.
