Catch the Talleres de Maximo Vicente Exhibit at Rustan’s Makati this April
This April, Rustan’s will feature the works of Maximo Vicente Sr., known as a master sculptor of religious imagery, in a special exhibition that brings his works from his shop, Talleres de Maximo Vicente. The special exhibition will be held from April 11 – 25, 2019, on the 5th floor of Rustan’s Makati.
Maximo Vicente, Sr., is known as one of the most successful commercial santero of all time – even his works rival those of European artisans.

Maximo Vicente, Sr. opened his shop, Talleres de Maximo Vicente opened in Quiapo but later moved to Ermita. His son, Maximo Jr, carried on his legacy at the Talleres.
Some of his handiworks include The Santo Nino de Praga of San Beda College, the Alfonso de Liguori Church in Magallanes, Virgen Milagrosa, Sta. Luisa in San Marcelino Church, Nuestra Senora de Candelaria in Iloilo and, the statues found at the Assumption Convent in San Lorenzo Village.

Owning a Maximo Vicente image is an honor passed down to those who not only have a fine taste but also strong faith, this carries on up to this day. The Talleres produced images that are perfect in artistry and workmanship. A commissioned image takes 3 to 12 months to complete and these images are fine and one-of-a-kind.
It was Maximo Vicente’s deep faith and exceptional craftsmanship that made his creations unparalleled.

This exhibit is surely one to visit, especially since the Holy Week is fast approaching. The Talleres de Maximo Vicente exhibit is located at the 5th floor of Rustan’s Makati and can be viewed from April 11 – 25, 2019.
