  • Children of all ages are invited to National Children’s Book Day (NCBD), happening this July 17, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Main Theater Lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

The NCBD is an annual event organized by the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) and recognizes the best works of children’s book writers, illustrations, and publishers. Most importantly, NCBD celebrates the importance of nurturing the curiosity and imagination of young readers.

This year’s NCBD will award winners of various PBBY contests, including the 2018 PBBY Wordless Book Prize and the 2018 National Children’s Book Awards. There will also be a My CCP Tour activity followed by sessions on storytelling, arts and crafts, and music and movement. The event is free and open to the public. For pre-registration and details, contact Ms. Kim Lim at 02-551-5959, ccpintertextualdivision@gmail.com, or 0919-317-5708.

There will also be The 2nd Storytelling Festival at Museo Pambata in Ermita, Manila from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the same day as part of the NCBD celebration. The festival will give emphasis on “Read Aloud” as a strategy to bring life to children story books.
