  • Set to happen at Plaza Moriones in Fort Santiago, Manila, the National Book Development Board (NBDB) will hold the Book Fiesta 2018 on April 23, 2018, Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will be loaded with series of activities such as a spoken word poetry workshop and calligraphy workshop, which are free and open to the public.

Students, teachers, book lovers, aspiring writers, and art enthusiasts are all invited to come and enjoy cultural performances like Balagtasan (traditional Filipino poetic debate), storytelling sessions, and puppet show. There will also be a bookbinding demo and a raffle where participants will get a chance to take books home for free.

On top of that, an exhibit area will be set up for the book fair, caricature, face painting, and t-shirt and tote bag printing. Freebies will be given away during the event. Book Fiesta 2018 is NBDB’s celebration of the World Book and Copyright Day (WBCD), which is annually observed all over the world every April 23.

Book Fiesta 2018 is organized in partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Intramuros Administration (IA). It is also a part of the Buwan ng Panitikan’s (National Literature Month) series of events, spearheaded by the NBDB, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
