Sister Act in Manila
Fans of musicals, prepared to be thrilled and dazzled as one of Broadway’s much-acclaimed musical Sister Act will be premiering their two-week run in the Philippines on June 27, 2017 at The Theatre at Solaire Entertainment Center.
The musical comedy is recreation of the hit 1992 film of the same tie and runs for about 2.5 hours. Written by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner, the story will follow the adventures of Deloris Van Cartier, who dreams of becoming a diva. Her life changes when she was brought to hide in a convent after she witnesses a crime. It was there that she was able to discover her voice, and that of her fellow sisters.
The production will be featuring the music and scoring of 9-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken (who also worked behind the music of Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Little Shop of Horrors) and words by Glenn Slater.
Since its premiere at the Pasadena Playhouse in 2006, Sister Act has already received 5 Tony Awards nominations in 2011, and four Olivier Awards nominations in 2010.
Sister Act is Ovation Production’s second Broadway musical presentation; its first being Beauty and the Beast which was staged two years ago at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
