Golf for a cause: New World Hotels & Resorts Golf Cup 2016

 

New World Hotels and Resorts has always been involved in charities. They’ve always given back to communities through financial support, recycling and conservation efforts, and career-enhancing training for their employees, with their most recent being the Run and Raise charity fun run held in December 2015 and January 2016.

This October, New World Hotels and Resorts gives you a new way of having fun and giving back at the same time: the New World Hotels & Resorts Golf Cup 2016, happening on October 7 at the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club.

Proceeds of the one-day golf tournament will go to the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. Noemi Samson, Chief Finance Officer for ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. was on hand for the signing of the memorandum of agreement at the New World Makati Hotel. She thanked New World Hotels & Resorts for being the beneficiary of their fundraising activities.

 

LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. James Williams, Executive Chef at the New World Manila Bay Hotel, said he was looking forward to the tournament.

  

New World Makati Hotel will be working hand in hand with their sister property New World Manila Bay Hotel to bring you this charity event. A press conference was held earlier at the New World Makati Hotel for the media to know more about the one-day golf tournament.

  

A FIRST FOR NEW WORLD. Building on the success of their charity fun runs, New World Makati GM Farid Schoucair tells us more about Golf Cup 2016. He also hopes to expand the tournament in the years to come.

 

The Golf Cup will be a first for the international hotel and resort chain according to New World Makati Hotel Manager Farid Schoucair. “It’s an opportunity to get out of the office, spend more time networking, build camaraderie, and enjoy the [great] outdoors,” he added.

“64 participants will be divided into 16 flights, with 4 golfers per flight. 8 flights will play in the front 9 while the others will play in the back 9,” said Schoucair when asked about the tournament format.

Explaining the format further, Schoucair said “There will be three categories during the tournament, with players playing without a handicap. Class A will be for players whose scores fall between 72 and 85 strokes; Class B will be for players who finished the course with a score between 85 and 100; Class C are for players who complete the course with 100 or more strokes.”

There will also be a women’s bracket since 6 of the 64 golfers are women. Apart from the golf tournament, there will be side events like longest drive, closest to the pin, raffle draws, and much more.

The New World Hotels & Resorts Golf Cup will take place on Friday, October 7 at the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club, Ayala Greenfield Estates, Brgy. Puting Lupa, Calamba City, Laguna.
