The IEC is held every year as a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, with the Congress leading to a deeper understanding of, and a stronger commitment to, the Eucharistic mystery. Pilgrims from all over the globe will come to Cebu to promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Catholic Church.

The event will be preceded by a theological symposium from January 20-22, to be held at the Cebu Doctor’s University in Mandaue City. Speaking at the event will be Rev. Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, OP and Rev. Fr. Francis Moloney, SDB.

Rev. Fr. Radcliffe is the Director of the Las Casas Institute of Blackfriars Oxford, which focuses on the promotion of Social Justice and Human Rights. Rev. Fr. Moloney, on the other hand, is the founding editor of the Australian theological journalPacifica, an associate editor of The Catholic Biblical Quarterly.

The Congress itself will be held from January 24-31 at the IEC Pavilion in Mabolo, Cebu City. If you would like more information on the event, you may visit their website at iec2016.ph.
