Foundation for Social Contribution

Since 1971, the JSF has conducted the annual Social Contributor Award Program to reward those who have contributed to society for their meritorious service, to promote their activities in the world, and to contribute to the spread of social contribution activities and the progress of society! Please hurry!

Nomination Guidelines for Award Candidates

 

1 Purpose

The purpose of this award is to contribute to the creation of a better society by recognizing and expressing gratitude to those who have contributed to the well-being and happiness of people and society, both within and outside Japan, and have made outstanding achievements, but who have not been rewarded socially.

 

2 Eligible Achievements

Achievements for enduring extreme mental or physical hardship, danger, or poor conditions, and for serving others.
Achievements that have contributed to the well-being and happiness of society and humankind by working silently and tirelessly in the face of difficult circumstances
Achievements that serve society through activities that are pioneering, unique, and exemplary
Achievements for the safety of the sea, environmental conservation, and the protection of the natural environment such as mountains and rivers, as well as rare animals such as endangered species
Achievement in raising a large number of children at home, not limited to one’s own children
Other achievements

 

3 About the Candidates

(1) There are no restrictions on age, occupation, gender, or creed.
(2) Candidates must be active in Japan or Japanese who are active overseas.
(3) Candidates must not have received the Foundation’s “Social Contributor Award” for similar achievements.
(4) Those who have already received national honors (Decoration, Medal of Honor) or Minister’s Commendation, etc. for the same or similar achievements as those for which they are nominated.
(4) Those who have already received national honors (Decorations, Commendations) or ministerial commendations for the same or similar achievements as the nominated achievements will be ranked later in the selection process.

 

4 Documents to be submitted

(1) Letter of Recommendation and Letter of Achievement (standard form)
(2) Attached materials: Journal, bulletin, newspaper articles (photocopies), photographs, etc., in which the candidate’s activities are described.
In principle, recommendation forms and materials will not be returned.

 

5 How to apply

Submit the application form on the Foundation’s website or send it by mail.

 

6 Deadline

October 31, 2024 (must arrive by this date)

 

7 Selection Method

The Selection Committee will make a rigorous selection of all candidates based on their achievements, and the Foundation President will make a decision based on the results. The selection process will not be made public.

 

8 Determination of award winners

April 2025 or later

 

Caution

Please note that the Foundation will not disclose the results of the selection process.
Please inform the candidates of your nomination before submitting your nomination, as we may contact you to inquire about your candidacy.
If a candidate is an individual, the organization to which the individual belongs may be selected as the recipient of the award.
If any false information is found in the nomination, the nomination and the award based on it will be invalidated. If it is found that the recommender solicited the candidate in return for the recommendation, the recommendation will be invalidated.
The Foundation reserves the right to use the name and address of the recipient, the application materials, including the nomination form, and any information contained in the application materials and subsequent research, as well as photographs, for publicity purposes, without compensation.
