Maria, bordering the province of Abra. Behind the largest waterfalls in Ilocos is a mythology of a giant named <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Angalo <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">searching for his love, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aran<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9907\" src=\"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/01\/Rock-Formation.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/01\/Rock-Formation.jpg 800w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/01\/Rock-Formation-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/01\/Rock-Formation-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>The rock formation leading to the top of the falls that reveals the best-kept naturally-made pools<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is said that they were like a version of Adam and Eve in Ilocos and that Angalo passed by the mountains of Pinsal in search for Aran, leaving a large mark of his footprints that locals call as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cTugot ni Angalo\u201d. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The said footprint<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0is<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">now a naturally-made pool.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Twin Falls of Ilocos Sur<\/h4>\n<p>Pinsal Falls&#8217; famed 85-foot waterfall\u00a0of crystal clear fresh water is also called <em>&#8220;Twin Falls&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0by locals as it reveals magnificent cascading water separated into two.<\/p>\n<p>The falls also\u00a0boasts best-kept\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">naturally made mini-pools on top, with Angalo&#8217;s footprint as the biggest among them. Clear and cold waters cascade down the 85-foot deep\u00a0falls<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Trekking at Pinsal Falls:<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trekking at Pinsal falls to get to the top can be quite challenging but it&#8217;s definitely worth it.\u00a0<\/span>You don\u2019t have to worry about going up&#8212;the trails have carved steps so you won\u2019t have to deal with large rocks and bumpy soils. However, you have to be extra careful as some parts don&#8217;t have handrails for support.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On top of it, you\u2019ll get to see the beauty of the falls and enjoy the countless pools available. Those who would like to stay for a swim, cottages are down the trail and costs <strong>Php 100 to Php 300<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How to get there:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From Manila, hop on either Partas, Philippine Rabbit\u00a0or Viron buses going to Abra, Vigan or Laoag. All of these buses will pass by Sta. Maria town where you can hire a tricycle to bring you down the falls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you\u2019re going\u00a0via a private car, from Sta. Maria Church, take the Sta. Maria Burgos road and turn right to Pinsal Falls Road.
