One of the important religious sites to see in Hirosaki is the Hirosaki Catholic Church.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hirosaki Catholic Church is a Roman-style building built by Yokoyama Tsuneki, the brother of Horie Sakichi, a well-known builder who designed most of the Western-style buildings in Hirosaki. The Romanesque church is characterized by its Gothic altar and stained glass windows that make the humble house of worship more resplendent. The altar, made in 1866 using Narra wood, was donated by St. Thomas Church of Amsterdam. On the other hand, the stained glass art features things that Hirosaki is known for such as apples and the Tsugaru-shamisen musical instrument making it greatly significant for the city.<\/p>\n

Take the 100-yen loop bus from the JR Hirosaki Station, get off at Hirosaki Cultural Center. It takes about a 5-minute walk from the bus stop.<\/p>\n
