But that just might be because we don’t usually think about the Batad Rice Terraces.

Located in the province of Ifugao, this UNESCO World Heritage site is arguably one of the best places to go to in the Philippines for backpackers or people who would like to become backpackers. What’s perfect about it is that it’s not too difficult to get to, and yet it’s remote enough that the only way to get to it is by foot.

Not directly, of course. If you’re coming from Manila, the first thing you’ll have to do is to take a bus. The Ohayami bus in Sampaloc has trips that take you straight to Banaue. The bus leaves the terminal at 9 or 10 p.m. and arrives at Banaue at around 7:00 in the morning. It’s a bit of a rough journey, but you’ll feel that it’s worth it as you will wake up to amazing scenery.

TERRACES ALONG THE ROAD.
