Wine and spirit aficionados will soon add to the regular visiting crowd of Intramuros, which used to be mainly composed of history buffs and students on tour buses.<\/p>\n

\"\"Destileria Limtuaco is a new old museum along San Juan de Letran Street in Intramuros.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The oldest distillery in the Philippines, Destileria Limtuaco opened on February 6 its museum, a stone structure in Intramuros that houses various memorabilia of the brand that goes decades to more than a century back.<\/p>\n

\"\"The stone structure was built in 1982.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The museum is, in fact, not new as it has been standing there since 1982. It was initially built as a private family museum “with the intention of preserving the company’s history,” according to Aaron Aw, a member of the family, in a Facebook post. It was only now, decades later, that the family decided to open it to the public.<\/p>\n

On the first floor of the Destileria Limtuaco museum, guests can learn the process of making a bottle of alcohol and travel through time with shelves of bottles that the historic distillery has ever produced.<\/p>\n

\"\"Siok Hoc Tong, a Chinese herbal tonic, was the first product of Destileria Limtuaco released in 1852.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

There is also an interactive section that features old commercials and calendars showing models in red bikinis riding a white horse, an iconic image associated with Destileria Limtuaco’s White Castle Whisky.<\/p>\n

The second floor meanwhile holds various items with great value to the Limtuaco family.<\/p>\n

Adults who avail of an upgraded tour at Php 200 will also surely enjoy the museum’s unlimited alcohol tasting at the bar area.<\/p>\n
