The park was originally called “Palace in the Sky” as it sits atop of Mt. Sungay. It was originally intended as a grand guesthouse for U.S. President Ronald Reagan, who was set to visit the country in the early 1980s. However, the visit didn’t push through and the palace was soon abandoned, leaving behind an unfinished structure that has since been transformed into a beloved public park that takes you to the highest peak. Aside from a perfect overlooking view of Tagaytay, it also provides one the experience of being almost eye-level with the clouds and free-flying birds.<\/p>\n

Today, the park is one of Tagaytay’s most popular destination for locals and tourists, who can explore the remnants of the “Palace in the Sky,” stroll through landscaped gardens, and enjoy the cool mountain breeze. Its elevated location boasts a 360-degree view of the surrounding areas, which make it an ideal spot for photography and sightseeing.<\/p>\n

While you can take a jeepney ride from the entrance to the top of the park, a ten-minute leisurely stroll up the hill is a rather good time for you to let your mind mellow out and appreciate the nature around you.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the viewing deck, visitors can rent binoculars for a closer look at the stunning Taal Volcano and the towns below. There are also a few food joints and souvenir shops where you can stop over for snacks and trinkets to take home.<\/span><\/p>\n
