Established in 1974, it was named among the\u00a0Top 10 Restaurants of the World\u00a0by The New York Times in 1993 and was awarded one Michelin Star three years in a row (2010 &#8211; 2012) for its branches in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>Brace yourself as long lines await both locals and tourists who are hopelessly in love with their soup dumplings.\u00a0If you are a fan of Din Tai Fung in your hometown or xiao long bao in general, Din Tai Fung is\u00a0definitely worth a visit.<\/p>\n<p><em>How to get there:\u00a0Din Tai Fung&#8217;s original shop is located next to\u00a0Yongkang Street (\u6c38\u5eb7\u8857).\u00a0Take the Red Line\u00a0<span title=\"Red - Xiangshan Line 2\">2<\/span>\u00a0or Orange Line\u00a0<span title=\"Orange - Xinlu Line 4\">4<\/span>\u00a0to Dongmen Station (<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"D\u014dngm\u00e9n\">\u6771\u9580<\/span>). Make sure you drop by their Giant Panda House, where guests can see two pandas named\u00a0Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan\u00a0(meaning &#8220;reunion&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>They also have a Fern Garden, an Insect Valley, a Children&#8217;s Zoo, Koala House, and Asian Rainforest Tropical Area. For those who love animals, this is the place for you. They have English-speaking tour guides in the morning and afternoon that you can book online.<\/p>\n<p>A Taiwanese food court is available for people who are tired of wandering the museum. Do not cross the road, as buses on the MRT station side of the road head east towards the museum. It was erected in honor and memory of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, the former President of the ROC. It was opened to the public in 1980 as part of a national park and gathering area.<\/p>\n<p>Have a piece of history with you as you tour around the same place Chiang Kai-shek used to walk on.\u00a0The octagon-shaped white building rises 76 meters build with the rich culture of the Taiwanese, and is Taiwan&#8217;s most prominent historical landmark.<\/p>\n<p><em>How to get there:\u00a0Take Red Line\u00a0<span title=\"Red - Tamsui Line 2\">2<\/span>\u00a0or Green Line\u00a0<span title=\"Green - Songshan-Xindian Line 3\">3<\/span>\u00a0to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"Zh\u014dngzh\u00e8ng J\u00ecni\u00e0nt\u00e1ng\">\u4e2d\u6b63\u7d00\u5ff5\u5802<\/span>), sometimes labeled as\u00a0C.K.S. This is the best place to get a full 360-degree view of the entire city of Taipei. The base of Taipei 101 is home to a multi-level shopping mall while its upper floors are rented out to businesses.\u00a0At 508 meters, Taipei 101 was once the world&#8217;s tallest building until the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it in 2010. It also held the record for the world&#8217;s fastest elevator and is currently the tallest LEED-certified building in the world (and a Platinum certificate at that).<\/p>\n<p>People who have fear of heights aren&#8217;t encouraged to go here, but for those thrill seekers, this is the place to be. The tower itself mimics a stalk of bamboo, ready to withstand any typhoon or earthquake that may hit Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p><em>How to get there:\u00a0Take the Red Line\u00a0<span title=\"Red - Xiangshan Line 2\">2<\/span>\u00a0(Xiangshan train) to Taipei 101 station (<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"T\u00e1ib\u011bi Y\u012b L\u00edng Y\u012b\">\u53f0\u5317101<\/span>). Alternatively, take the Blue Line\u00a0<span title=\"Blue - Bannan Line 5\">5<\/span>\u00a0to Taipei City Hall Station (<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"Sh\u00ec Zh\u00e8ngf\u01d4\">\u5e02\u653f\u5e9c<\/span>), located beneath HanKyu Department Store. Walk south to enter the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi (<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"X\u012bngu\u0101ng S\u0101nyu\u00e8\">\u65b0\u5149\u4e09\u8d8a<\/span>) complex (known as the\u00a0Xinyi Shopping District) towards 101. Being as tall as it is, you will definitely see it along the skyline.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/taipei-101-2511672_1280.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6082 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/taipei-101-2511672_1280-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/taipei-101-2511672_1280.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/taipei-101-2511672_1280-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/taipei-101-2511672_1280-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Xiangshan<\/strong>, or Elephant Mountain,\u00a0is a mountain in Taipei&#8217;s Xinyi District. A famed tourist attraction, this is worth the hike as it has astonishing views of the entire city. Stare at Taipei&#8217;s skyscrapers by day, or enjoy the scenic Taipei skyline at night.\u00a0The hike takes around 15-20 minutes to the top. Even though it&#8217;s not an actual hike, be prepared for lots and lots of stairs!<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll reach the landing area with facilities and restrooms where the path branches off in multiple directions. Best if you go here late in the afternoon for stunning views like the one in the photo.<\/p>\n<p><em>How to get there:\u00a0From the base of\u00a0Taipei 101, walk east on Xinyi Road (<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"X\u00ecny\u00ec L\u00f9\">\u4fe1\u7fa9\u8def<\/span>) for two blocks until you reach MRT Xiangshan Station, only a 15-minute walk from\u00a0<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"y\u012b l\u00edng y\u012b\">101<\/span>\u00a0and completely worth it. To get there faster, take a\u00a0YouBike\u00a0from the station across the street from 101 (MRT Exit 2), then return the bike at the park near the trail entrance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If you&#8217;re taking the MRT, get off after arriving at Xiangshan station (<span class=\"bstooltip\" title=\"Xi\u00e0ngsh\u0101n\">\u8c61\u5c71<\/span>), the terminus of Red Line\u00a0<span title=\"Red - Xiangshan Line 2\">2.<\/span>\u00a0Leave from Exit 2 and continue walking alongside the edge of the park.
