Towns in the Philippines were built around churches during the Spanish occupation. The baroque-style church was built in 1605 to honor St. John the Baptist and is sometimes referred to as the Liliw or Lilio Church<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The church survived an earthquake during 1880 and a fire in 1898. It has since been preserved and developed by its parishioners in an effort to restore it to its former glory.<\/p>\n

A marker outside the church tells a story about Liliw that most visitors might not be familiar with. The people of Liliw used to go to Nagcarlan to hear the mass until they were given their own church in 1605.<\/p>\n

\"\"ALTAR. The church’s fa\u00e7ade may draw in more crowds, but the altar draws just as much interest.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

One of the church\u2019s most endearing features is its magnificent fa\u00e7ade. The beautiful architecture makes for great photos, especially if you are someone who loves churches. Parking is also not a problem if you\u2019re visiting Liliw Church, as it acts the town\u2019s parking space.<\/p>\n

Masses are held here at 6 a.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Afternoon masses (5:15 p.m.) are held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you\u2019re visiting during May and October, all of their masses will be at 5:15 p.m., except Saturday. Sunday masses start at 6 a.m.<\/p>\n

Their parish office is open all week (except for Mondays) from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
