{"id":4910,"date":"2017-05-27T09:57:52","date_gmt":"2017-05-27T01:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/?p=4910"},"modified":"2017-09-20T15:12:49","modified_gmt":"2017-09-20T07:12:49","slug":"corregidor-island-spanish-lighthouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/2017\/05\/27\/corregidor-island-spanish-lighthouse\/","title":{"rendered":"Corregidor Island Spanish Lighthouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Said to be located in the highest point of the whole Corregidor Island, the <strong>Spanish Lighthouse<\/strong> gives anyone who climbs it the best and an unobstructed view of the neighboring islands, Bataan, Cavite, and, when lucky, even Manila.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4936\" src=\"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/05\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>IMAGE Philippine Primer<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The lighthouse was first built during the Spanish colonization in the 1850s, and it was able to guide navigators as they sail across the waters of the country since its construction. However, during the Second World War, the Japanese bombarded the island, severely damaging the lighthouse. The lighthouse was demolished in 1950 and was reconstructed with the bricks that remained in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The stairs to the viewing deck is steep and tiring, so climbing the steps to the top won\u2019t probably be the best idea for those with a fear of heights. Despite this, it would surely be rewarding once you\u2019re there, as you are overlooking the sea and the islands that surround Corregidor.
