He is depicted in traditional Filipino attire, holding a <strong data-start=\"1030\" data-end=\"1042\">kampilan<\/strong>, a traditional sword, and a shield\u2014visual representations of his role as a defender of his people. This historic encounter established Lapu-Lapu as a symbol of <strong data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"800\">courage, leadership, and independence<\/strong>, securing his place in Philippine history.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1225\" data-end=\"1677\">Within the same area stands the <strong data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1278\">Magellan Monument<\/strong>, a <strong data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1305\">coral stone obelisk<\/strong> believed to mark the spot where Ferdinand Magellan was killed during the battle.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1225\" data-end=\"1677\">Although <strong data-start=\"1396\" data-end=\"1430\">no remains were ever recovered<\/strong>, the structure serves as a historical marker of his expedition.
