First built in 1591, it served as the town\u2019s watchtower before being turned into a bell tower by the nearby church in 1857. Located roughly 10 minutes from the town of Vigan, it\u2019s located in the town of Bantay, Ilocos Sur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3491\" src=\"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/02\/bell-tower.jpg\" alt=\"bell tower\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/02\/bell-tower.jpg 600w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/02\/bell-tower-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It has looked over the town of both Bantay and Vigan for centuries, and was known as Diego and Gabriela Silang\u2019s favorite date spot during the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century. You\u2019ll need to sign a guestbook just before the entrance to the location of Bantay Bell tower. You can also donate any amount you wish before entering to ensure the bell tower is taken care of.<\/p>\n<p>From there, a short walk is the only thing that separates you from the bell tower.
