It is a peaceful sanctuary of the nuns in Hakodate. Tourists are not allowed inside the convent but can freely roam outside to take photos of the public designated areas. There is also a gift shop where guests can avail of the products made by the nuns themselves. Roaming around the Trappistine Convent is free of charge. It is open from 8 am to 5 pm in summer, and from 8 am to 4:30 pm in winter.

Admission: Free

Address: 346 Kamiyunakawa-cho, Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan

In 1898, eight nuns from France founded the oldest convent in Japan — the Trappistine Convent.

[565,1078,691,63,80,1077
255,257,258,268,269
post-3364","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-japan-international","category-hakodate","category-hakodate-spot","category-feature","category-churches","category-hakodate-spot-2018","tag-hakodate","tag-japan","tag-hokkaido","tag-kamiyunakawa-cho","tag-trappistine-convent
["GET
