Last week, the Department of Tourism (DOT)<\/b> awarded the (World Travel and Tourism Council) WTTC Safe Travels Stamp <\/b>to the 33 DOT-accredited accommodation establishments (AEs<\/strong>) in PH for qualifying the global health standard for safe travel.<\/p>\n

33 hotels and resorts from six regions, 16 of which in Cebu and Bohol, nine in Palawan, three each in Boracay and Zamboanga, and one each in Baguio City and Davao City.<\/p>\n

As of press time, there are a total of 40 recipients, including the seven accommodation establishments given the Safe Travels Stamp earlier this year.<\/p>\n

The WTTC Safe Travels Stamp<\/a> is the world\u2019s first safety and hygiene stamp for travelers to recognize governments and businesses that have adopted global health standardized protocols.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that the country\u2019s vaccination program is in full swing, we anticipate that parallel initiatives across the globe will hasten the resumption of international travel,\u201d said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.<\/b><\/p>\n

The key takeaway for having this stamp is the global exposure through the vast network of WTTC member organizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs early as now, we need to prepare our facilities and destinations to be visitor-ready, with health and safety as key concerns. The WTTC Safe Travels Stamp, on top of our accreditation, will hope to restore travelers\u2019 confidence in the Philippines as a \u2018safe and fun\u2019 destination,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

But the tourism secretary clarified that they only require DOT accreditation, however, she urged and highly recommend to apply.<\/p>\n

“All we are requiring is a DOT accreditation but of course I am encouraging everybody to apply for this because this is like a stamp of approval that you are not only DOT accredited but worldwide\u00a0pumasa ‘yong<\/i>\u00a0standard\u00a0mo<\/i>\u00a0(your standard passed),” she ended.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
