During Holy Week, devotees flock to these churches in light of the Visita Iglesia, the Roman tradition of visiting and praying in seven churches commencing Maundy Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Luckily, you don\u2019t have to wait for Holy Week to see these three stunning baroque churches in Pampanga.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">San Guillermo Parish Church &#8211; Bacolor<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1316\" src=\"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/08\/SAN-GUILLERMO-CHURCH-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"SAN GUILLERMO CHURCH\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">They say great things come in small packages \u2013 and Bacolor\u2019s San Guillermo Parish Church is certainly no exception. After the devastating eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991, this 15<sup>th<\/sup> century church became half-buried in lahar and was reduced to 6 meters in height, with some doors accessible only by ducking down upon entry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The fa\u00e7ade features gorgeous Hellenic pillars, while the church\u2019s interior is marked by beautiful low-lying wooden beams, chandeliers, and charming recuerdos. The retablo is filled with hundreds-old statues that were excavated post-eruption. It flaunts beautiful ceiling and wall paintings by renowned early 19<sup>th<\/sup> century painters Simon Flores and Victor Ramos, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Massive and fortress-like, Betis Church combines unique elements of Spanish, Latin, and Oriental architecture, including stained glass windows, a high ceiling flanked by Greek pillars, and carvings on its retablo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For a brief walk through Betis\u2019 history, head to the museum at the back of the church.
