  • While Underground River and Honda Bay Island hopping are two of the most popular destinations in Puerto Princesa, not many people know of the bumpy road that leads to Puerto Princesa’s undiscovered beaches.

    One among them is Nagtabon Beach, a hidden gem just an hour away from the town proper, and one among the best kept surfing spot on the west coast of Puerto Princesa.

    Nagtabon Beach is the place to be if you’re looking for an adventure all the while getting that relaxed community-like setting, a foreign-friendly local beach where you’ll find everyone enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

    Around, you’ll find local fishermen getting their catch of the day and kids from nearby areas wandering off and enjoying the island life in all its glory. You can also experience a moment of solitude here by renting nipa cottages starting at Php 300.

    The waters of Nagtabon beach is also known as the west coast’s surfing area. You can enjoy a good coffee along with a good surfing tutorial at Surf Surf Cafe. They offer surfing lessons and surfboard rentals as well as a variety of good food from vegetarian options to bar chows, perfect for those who wish to chill after a good surf.

    Those who will be swimming and surfing need not to worry as there are also several toilet and shower areas to use. Backpackers will also be delighted as there are also nearby lodging areas like A&Z Nagtabon Lodge.

    As Nagtabon Beach is slowly getting its well-deserved attention, Blue Palawan Beach Club also hosts one of the best beach parties here so make sure to check out their events to experience one of the best sunset parties in town!

    Tip: There’s a viewing deck 5 mins away from Nagtabon beach. You can check this out and take photos of the beach’s amazing view. 

    How to get here: 

    • Via rented motorcycle or vans: From the town proper, take the Puerto Princesa North Road for about 20 km before turning left to Bacungan-Nagtabon Road. Continue straight for about 15km and turn left. You’ll arrive at Nagtabon Beach.
