What makes Kawasan Falls a place to go to is because it is composed of three cascade stages, where you can see the rush of the ice-cold water flow down making it a sight to see. The Kawasan Falls also make up the Matutinao River System which is the barangay (barrio) where it is located. This is a popular tourist spot in the town of Badian so a lot of the locals know where it is located if in case you need to ask of its whereabouts.

One should note that there will be hiking involved in going to Kawasan Falls. The trek will only be 15 to 30 minutes from the entry point in Barangay Matutinao to Kawasan. Along the way you will appreciate its beauty even more by all the plants that make up the lush rainforest. Kawasan Falls is made up of three waterfalls, and the first one is the most crowded. The other two falls can be reached by foot and it will also only take about 15 to 30 minutes. The highest point, called “Kabukalan,” is where the fresh water goes out. It is still accessible but needs more effort in trekking compared to the first two points.

A popular activity to do here in Kawasan Falls would be downstream canyoneering. It’s best done with a group of friends where you will travel in canyons such as walking, climbing, jumping, and swimming. It’s suggested to rent a cottage at the place where you can rest after, and rent a raft and life jackets too. There are some eateries along the way but it’s best to bring your own food as some may be expensive.

Along the way, you will see various shops that sell souvenir such as accessories and shirts. There are also some who sell fresh coconut for an affordable price if you want to sip something flavorful. A fee of P10.00 is being collected at the entrance for the maintenance of the said waterfalls. To go here, ride a bus heading to Badian at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) then drop off at Matutinao Badian Church. If you wish to have a tour guide accommodate you, you can do so but you can also opt not to since the trail is easy.
