Fantasy World: From Theme Park to Photo-op
Ever wondered what it would’ve been like to have a Disneyland-scale theme park in the Philippines? While you won’t find one, you can fantasize about having one by visiting Fantasy World in the province of Batangas.
POSSIBILITIES. Oh, what might have been. (Photo c/o Aldwin Masangkay via Panoramio)
Fantasy World would have been a world-class family entertainment facility, amusement, and recreation club park in Lemery, Batangas. It represents something that might have been: a large-scale theme park on par with places like Hong Kong Disneyland. Its medieval theme would’ve been a hit with families, especially kids, but it was not to be.
THERE IS HOPE. You may not have theme park rides, but Fantasy World provides great opportunities for photo walks. (Photo c/o Rick St. John Photography)
Once owned by a Japanese businessman, the park is now in the hands of the homeowner’s association. It was meant to have rides that would rival those of Disneyland, along with the perks of being an exclusive theme park: you can buy shares, or get a condo unit within the premises, and use the facilities of the park at no extra cost.
This, however, does not take away the fact that the park is still a sight to behold. Situated on top of a hill, it offers great views of Taal Lake. The castle, although not as well-maintained, still makes for a great backdrop, especially for photographers. The gardens are also a sight to behold, and are a favorite for pre-nuptial photo shoots.
Entrance to the park is at P1,000 for up to 10 guests. Fantasy World is also great for families who want to enjoy a quiet picnic in a medieval setting.
You can find Fantasy World at Diokno Highway, Brgy, Mayasang, Lemery, Batangas. For more information, you can contact Fantasy World Theme Parks Amusement and Recreation Club at 02-833-6566.
