However, there are many types of masks in the market that are created for specific purposes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We have enumerated some common types of face masks, which can help you in choosing the most appropriate and effective one for your needs.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Surgical Masks<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Also known simply as a <strong>face mask<\/strong>, the surgical mask is loose-fitting, disposable masks that cover the nose and mouth. There are some made from paper or other non-woven material.<\/p>\n<p>It is worn with the colored side facing outwards with the metallic strip molded to the bridge of the nose.\u00a0Some designs may have garter earloops, ties, or bands that go around the head.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Donning and Doffing Facial Protection \u2013 Mask alone\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OABvzu9e-hw?start=39&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Surgical masks are designed to\u00a0protect the wearer from contact with liquids, droplets, aerosol, etc. that may contain viruses or bacteria- carrying germs. In turn, it also prevents a patient from spreading the virus or bacteria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These are best worn by those <strong>visiting patients<\/strong> with respiratory problems\u00a0and <strong>patients with coughing or sneezing symptoms<\/strong>. Wash your hands with soap and water after handling the used mask or before wearing a new one.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Dust\u00a0Masks<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This is where the confusion starts as dust masks are a general mask made to be worn as a protective mask against non-toxic dust produced during gardening, sweeping, and construction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These are pre-molded masks covering the nose and mouth and held to the face with an elastic strap. While these are usually <strong>worn by construction workers<\/strong>, it can also be used to <strong>protect the wearer against allergens or during dust storms\u00a0and sand storms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>N95 Respirator<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A respirator is a device to protect the wearer from inhaling hazardous\u00a0airborne particles. These are commonly <strong>used in construction and other industrial workers<\/strong> who are constantly exposed to dust and small particles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8443\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/01\/n95-mask-prilippine-primer.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/01\/n95-mask-prilippine-primer.jpg 800w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/01\/n95-mask-prilippine-primer-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/01\/n95-mask-prilippine-primer-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>Surgical N95 mask\/IMAGE\u00a0California Healthline<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The\u00a0National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in the United States regulates these masks for occupational use while the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates\u00a0certain N95 for use of the general public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In the many\u00a0NIOSH ratings, the most common is the N95 and is described as not oil resistant and which filters at least 95% of airborne particles.
