In 1767, the image was transferred to Quiapo Church.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The Annual Novena<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On\u00a0December 31, the\u00a0Quiapo Church\u00a0holds novena prayers and masses marking the start of the annual celebration. The <strong>procession<\/strong> from Quirino Grandstand in Luneta to the Quiapo Church re-enacts the transfer of the statue from its original shrine in Intramuros.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">While the procession is being held,\u00a0hourly masses are held in Quiapo Church wherein some devotees wait to greet the image as it arrives from the long\u00a0procession.<\/p>\n<p><em>Also read: <a href=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/2019\/05\/11\/a-guide-to-fiesta-celebration-in-the-philippines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Guide to Fiesta Celebration in the Philippines<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Traslaci\u00f3n<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The procession locally\u00a0called the <strong><i>Traslaci\u00f3n<\/i><\/strong><em>\u00a0(<\/em>Spanish for <em>transfer<\/em>), is the largest procession in the country with an almost 6.1-kilometer journey usually lasting 19 hours through narrow streets and winding roads. It is advisable to <strong>follow the official route and listen to authorities<\/strong> stationed\u00a0during the procession.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Plan an escape plan<\/strong> in case of stampede or injuries. <strong>Assign a meeting place<\/strong> if coming in groups and <strong>avoid bringing gadgets<\/strong> as cellphone signals will be turned off for safety purposes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Be well-fed and hydrated<\/strong> before and during the procession.\u00a0The local police have\u00a0forbidden bringing bags, fragile
