Though ways to destress vary from person to person, here\u2019s one that\u2019s slowly gaining popularity\u2014<strong>Forest Bathing<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7962\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/PWPA.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>IMAGE\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Philippine Wood Producers Association<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><b>What is forest bathing?\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Forest bathing is known as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shinrin-yoku<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (literally translates to forest bath) in Japan and was first introduced in the 1980s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Contrary to its name, forest bathing doesn\u2019t actually mean taking a bath in the forest. Instead, it means reconnecting with nature as a way to relax and disconnect from the stressful world. This method is believed to be beneficial not only for mental health but also for physical health.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In fact, several studies have been made to further look into the numerous health benefits of being exposed to a living forest. The key to forest bathing is opening one\u2019s senses, making sure to slowly take it all in through seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, and feeling.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This means letting the fresh air surround you, feeling the grass between your toes, and letting the tranquility of the forest wash over you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It doesn\u2019t matter if there is no forest near you because Dr. Li also emphasized how you can still practice it anywhere&#8212;as long as there are trees surrounding you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Forest bathing is known to reduce stress and help you relax, but several studies show that it also helps boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, and promote better sleep.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At the same time, it can help improve disposition, increase focus, and even enhance creativity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7965\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/adventure-backpack-conifer-840719.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/adventure-backpack-conifer-840719.jpg 800w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/adventure-backpack-conifer-840719-290x218.jpg 290w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/adventure-backpack-conifer-840719-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/adventure-backpack-conifer-840719-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Can I do forest bathing in the Philippines?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although the concept of forest bathing is still fairly new to the Philippines, there are organizations that are advocating it like the Philippine Wood Producers Association (PWPA).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PWPA is known to campaign for\u00a0<\/span>forest protection and management in the country, promoting the betterment of the local industry.<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Aside from that, though, they are also encouraging people to visit local forests and practice forest bathing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe all know what our forests do for our environment. Forest bathing goes beyond that and shows what a healthy forest can do for individuals.
