The Philippines boasts of thousands of tropical\u00a0islands, but with the ongoing modernization, many\u00a0farmlands and forests\u00a0are being turned into cities and roads at an alarming rate.<\/p>\n

This caused an uproar within environmental groups and advocates and has been asking for volunteers to help plant more trees.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0government also recently passed the\u00a0Graduation Legacy For the Environment Act<\/a>\u00a0where graduating elementary, high school, and college students will be required to plant native Philippine tree species.<\/p>\n

Greenpeace<\/h3>\n

Greenpeace is an independent\u00a0global organization which seeks to\u00a0conserve the planet and promote peace by championing renewable energy, combatting illegal fishing, and campaigning for clean seas. In the Philippines, the organization called to counter climate change and eliminate toxic chemicals.<\/p>\n

MAD Travel<\/h3>\n

There are also local travel and tour groups that include tree-planting activities in their itineraries. Once example is MAD Travel which creates alternative travel experience geared towards bringing together people from different walks of life. They will have their guests planting trees,\u00a0farming, feeding animals, or creating their own social enterprise products like stuffed toys and carabao cheese<\/p>\n

Masungi Geopark Reserve<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0ongoing project is a multi-sector initiative to restore devastated\u00a0lands surrounding the famous Masungi Georeserve. Guests may participate in tree planting and nurturing activities at the conservation area located at the first ranger station of the Masungi Geopark Project.<\/p>\n
